OFFSHORE by Alan Wilkins

Directed by Morven Gregor

Where the land meets the water, where the urban meets the rural, Alan Wilkins’ new play explores what happens when a landscape changes, when a town loses its young people and the sea loses its fish.

Set in a small community in Scotland, the spotlight falls on the remote village to reveal a complex web of interdependencies – life in this rural idyll is far from easy or straightforward.

A mother struggles to make ends meet running a chandlery and a whale-watching boat. Her daughter, torn between her ambitions, supporting her mother and her boyfriend, is on the verge of leaving the close-knit community in search of secure work. A new couple comes to live in the village and establish themselves as pillars of the community. But why have they chosen this quiet fishing village? Where does their money come from? All is not quite what it seems…!
